#61 Ceztacoatyl is a psychedelic digital painting based on feelings and interpretation of this news article:
The Aztec underworld may be a real place protected by amphibious guardians known as the Ceztacoatyl. These razor clad killing machines are have psychedelic feathery headdresses and a beautiful chromatic aura. They have a strong warlike form with decorative armor plating, often seen patrolling in pairs. They serenely walk around the jade brickwork of the upper levels looking for heretics and other miscreants who do not deserve to be so high up. This world exists like a phased dream because it’s partly in another space in time. Between two worlds and through another one. A staircase to a greater realm of consciousness exists past the Ceztacoatyl with a much more peaceful realm of serenity. Negotiation is almost impossible, and only a pure soul may pass their perception and gaze.
While painting this piece I was happy with the form and colouration. There were a couple of problems with the body shape and the face, but overall I am happy how it turned out. I especially like the strange headdress that came about.
